All beaches in the Virgin Islands are publicly owned and most have public access.  There are a few areas that are ‘privatized’, but you should not have a problem finding more than enough beaches, access, and amenties at many beaches around the islands.

Although it may feel a little uncomfortable to drive out to a resort, park, and walk out onto their beach, keep in mind that this access is required by law.

Lounge chairs, umbrellas and other amenities that are provided by resorts or other businesses located on or near a beach do fall under their rules however.  Some resorts will reserve chairs and equipment for hotel guests only – and others will charge a nominal fee for use.

Many resorts have restaurants and bars, which rely on day guests to come and patronize their facilities.  So, don’t feel uncomfortable, be ready with a few bucks if you want to use equipment, or just set out your towel and enjoy the beautiful Virgin Islands weather.
