Buck Island is one of the most popular destinations on St Croix and noted by most travelers as a “Must  See.”  In fact, if you miss this beach and read about it later, you will be disappointed.

Buck Island is part of the National Park Service and is classified as a National Monument.  There is an underwater snorkel/scuba trail and an abundant and diverse pool of sea life from the colorful fish, to turtles, starfish and coral reefs.

It does take a boat to get to Buck Island and quite a few people will charter a boat for a full or half day sail, mooring just off the beach.  This is a nice way to go – since the transportation, snorkel gear, and in many cases food and drinks are provided as well.  Finding a charter is not too difficult, but reservations are always recommended and during some times a necessity.

That brings up another point…. not too much is available on the island, so BRING STUFF!  Food, beverages and, of course, SUNSCREEN.
